A great opportunity to use honey or blonde floors is in smaller homes or smaller rooms. These lighter floors create the illusion of a bigger space. You can further that illusion by filling the room with smaller furniture — a love seat rather than a full couch — or by using fewer pieces.

To ensure small rooms and homes feel as spacious as possible, it’s a good idea to think very carefully about your wall color. Blonde- and honey-colored floors are warm colors, meaning they have yellow, orange or red undertones. A pure white wall will work with any light-colored floor — even ones with a cool tone — but that look is a little stark for most of today’s interiors. Instead of pure white we suggest using a warm white that can complement the floors. Other great colors for blonde and honey-colored floors include other earth tones and neutral greys.

Another great advantage of lighter-colored floors: they mask dirt and damage better than dark floors! That makes them a great choice for kitchens, high-traffic areas, or any home — literally any home — with children. Light floors also mask scratches better than dark floors, making them perfect for pet owners.

And talk about choices! Blonde and honey floors are available in so many great wood species: alder, maple, birch, pine and oak. Choose the species that fits your style, and then customize even more because all our floors are available in a range of textures and surface finishes. You’ll find both sleek contemporary and rustic styles with wirebrushed and handscraped options.
