We’re going to start with chocolate floors.

Because, after all, there’s nothing sweeter! A chocolate floor adds a sense of sophistication to a room while creating depth and dimension. Set against white or light neutral walls, a dark floor makes a beautiful contrast. When paired with richer bolder colors, it balances the tones. Dark floors create a backdrop that makes your favorite colors pop — whether they are lighter, brighter or richer.

When decorating with dark floors there are a few things to keep in mind.

Dark floors absorb the light, so consider your lighting when deciding upon the right coloring for your room. Darker furniture tones will blend with the floor while lighter colors will stand apart. Your baseboards will behave the same way, so you may want to punch up your darker floors with beautiful white baseboards and trim.

Dark floors have never been more popular and some of the hottest trends feature a variety of dark-stained North American species such as oak, maple, hickory and walnut. Each species offers its own unique graining options and natural color variations. And all species are available in a range of textures and surface techniques, so you can find both sleek, contemporary looks and more rustic styles with both wirebrushed and handscraped visuals.

You’ll find delectable chocolate floors in either laminate or engineered hardwood. Laminate floors feature ScratchGuard™ Advanced Finish Protection with excellent scratch and stain resistance and easy maintenance. While our engineered hardwood floors are crafted with the exclusive Opulux™ Performance Enhanced Finish that illuminates the wood grain while protecting against stains and wear.
