Greige Floors: The LBD of Home Design

We all have our favorite little black dress that we reach for time and time again. You can dress it up with heels and some serious statement jewelry or dress it down with a leather jacket and flats. In the design world, and more specifically flooring trends, the LBD is greige flooring.

Greige floors work beautifully with any shade of furniture, which is why I use them in my own showroom. Like the little black dress, greige floors can be dressed up or dressed down depending on the look you’re going for. When it comes to home design, this is one trend that will never go out of style.

Look 1: Rustic

A rustic room calls for a mellow monochromatic color palette and lots and lots of texture. It’s easy to build a cozy space when you start with greige flooring. Just add light woods, dark metals and soft, fuss-free fabrics, and you’ll have a room you’ll love to live in.

Look 2: Modern

Greige flooring is the perfect neutral for a modern room like this where pops of blue, orange and yellow have starring roles. You won’t find monochromatic color palettes here, but that’s the beauty of greige. The warm walnut shades in this space are a stunning contrast to the cool Quick•Step flooring.

Look 3: Luxe

There’s just no doubt about it: greige is a seriously sophisticated shade. If you’re looking to dress it up, pile on the glam. Think sleek lines, sumptuous fabrics and metallic accents. Add some pops of pink to up the feminine factor.

Look 4: Transitional

Love the look of traditional and contemporary? Not to worry. Greige floors will complement both. In this space, greige flooring works well with a variety of wood tones and accent colors. And best of all, it will still look just as fresh when you decide to change your look!
