Green … for Saint Patty’s Day and Beyond

It’s Saint Patty’s day! And we’re all thinking green. But green is for more than shamrocks and beer. It’s a great color for interiors and you’ll see it a lot more in trend-savvy homes this year.

Green is one of the most prevalent colors in nature and can create a spectrum of emotions when added to a room. Green offers a range of shades from lively yellow greens to mellow teals. Rich pine greens can add elegant sophistication to a room while a brighter, lime green can make a simple accessory pop. Start with these three tips when decorating with greens.

1. Temper with lighter tones

Bolder greens can sometimes overwhelm a room. When you’re decorating with green consider tempering it with lighter tones like whites and creams. A light neutral floor like the Shaker Oak from Quick•Step’s Veriluxe™ collection balances the deep wall color while adding warmth to the room.

2. It’s all about the accessories

To add pop to a neutral setting with white or lighter walls, add touches of greens in pillows and small accessories. It will add freshness to your space. Try a chocolate or darker tone floor to add a dramatic twist.

3. Build off of a favorite fabric or pillow

To create a palette for your new green room, start with a favorite fabric or pillow. Choose your favorite green and a couple of other accent colors from the design. Now pull them throughout the room to tie everything together. Try a neutral brown tone floor – it should balance both lighter and darker wall colors.
