Installing Your New Flooring
We know, installing flooring can be intimidating. You don’t want your room to look like a Pinterest fail, and that’s where we come in. Here are some tips for installing your Luxury Vinyl Flooring.
- Installs with a Click. Our Uniclic® MultiFit locking system allows you to install the planks horizontally, vertically or at an angle creating durable joints that won’t separate or lift. This also means you can hear the floor *click* together. Make sure to mix cartons and prearrange planks prior to installation to ensure variation in tone and graining. For ideal effect, install the panels in the direction of the longest wall and parallel to the light source in the room.
- You can install our floors almost anywhere. As long as the flooring is flat, clean and free of moisture, debris, and grease, installation can take place on any grade of your home – even basements. It’s important to prepare the subfloor prior to installation. This can include removing old adhesives, repairing surface imperfections, and cracks.
- Install as a floating floor or secure it with glue. The method you select to install your floor depends on the conditions of the area and personal preference. Never use a tapping block or hammer during the installation of your luxury vinyl floor. Make sure to maintain an expansion gap of ¼” (5 mm) around the perimeter of the room and plan out your flooring so the last row of panels is at least 2 inches (5 cm) wide when finishing the installation. The end joints of the panels should be staggered by at least 12 inches.

Underlayment Makes A Big Difference
The right underlayment can make all the difference in the final look and feel of your flooring. Quick•Step Luxury Vinyl Floors can be installed with or without underlayment. If an underlayment is used, it should be installed simultaneously with the floor installation. We recommend Performance Accessories™ Luxury Vinyl Flooring underlayment. This helps ensure joint integrity, reduces sound and helps prevent indentation all while insulating and leveling the subfloor. Contact your local Quick•Step Luxury Vinyl Flooring dealer for more information.
Finish the Floor
To ensure that your new floor looks and performs its best, we recommend finishing the floor with the coordinating molding and trim accessories from Performance Accessories. These can include the following:
Our RevoFitTM T-Molding and Reducer – a moisture resistant molding – provides the functionality of a T-Molding and Reducer in a single, easy-to-install piece. The flexible design of the RevoFitTM track allows installation of the profile in either direction, eliminating all the guesswork involved in positioning the trim. Plus, the RevoFitTM moldings come in colors that coordinate beautifully with all of our Luxury Vinyl Flooring, now that is what we call user-friendly.
